Located about 13km from Munnar town, Lockhart Gap is one Munnar’s star attractions. Set amidst the Western Ghatmountains, trails wind through dense forests towards the higher slopes of the surrounding mountains. This gap through the mountains overlooks lush valleys, tea carpeted slopes and undulating hill tops down shrouded in mist below.
Power House waterfalls
Situated 18km from Munnar town en-route to the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary in Thekkady, the waterfall gets its name from the old power house nearby. Here, water cascades from a towering height of 2000 metres, surrounded by the lush green forested mountains of the Western Ghats.
Anayirangal Dam
‘Anayirangal’ translates approximately to ‘Elephant Lake’ or ‘the lake where elephants arrive’ and it is a spot very popular with tourists visiting Munnar. An idyllic picnic spot beside a dam and its reservoir, surrounded by tea plantations, Anayirangal is situated at a distance of about 22km from Munar town.
Kolukkumalai Tea Factory
