The Paliasal Power House is the first power project in Kerala and was inaugurated in 1940.Though it was started as a 200kv installation in 1928 by the Kannan Devan Hill Produce Co., the plant’s capacity was later upgraded to meet the increasing demand for power in Kerala. Currently the power station houses 6 generators and its capacity is 37.5 MW with up gradation currently underway to increase the capacity to 60 MW.
Chengulam Dam
The dam is located near Anachal, 13km from Munnar town. The area around the dam and its reservoir is scenic, serene and relatively unexplored by tourists. Visitors may avail of boating facilities provided at the lake and draws many visitors to Chengulam.
Atttukad Waterfalls
A visitor is sure to be mesmerized by the waterfalls at Attukad. Set amidst looming mountain tops and dense forests, the area offers numerous spots that are ideal for a family picnic or a romantic stroll. A word of caution, the road leading Attukad waterfalls is very narrow and requires careful driving.
Pothemedu Viewpoint
A stunningly beautiful viewpoint that offers panoramic views of tea, coffee and cardamom plantations in the valleys below. Here, a visitor is surrounded by rolling hills, lush forested valleys and slopes are ideal for trekking and extended mountain trail walks.
Karadipara Viewpoint
Guests will enjoy the viewpoint at Karadipara for the views from here that provide the essence that is Munnar – expansive views of mountains stretching to the horizon, slopes carpeted by tea plantations. Enroute to Munnar town, the view from Karadipara is a memory to take home.
